Arriba La Cumbia! is back on Friday 20 November a party with Cumbia, tropical, latino and amazonic live bands and Dj's.
Live music by top Venezuelan percussionist Wilmer Sifontes and his Afro-America Project. Wilmer is a regular at ALC and one the top latin percussionists in the UK he plays with many of our headline bands including his own act Conjunto Sabroso. Support comes from two new and up and coming latino bands Repercussion and warm up from The Indios.

On the decks our host Dj Russ Jones aka Hackney Globetroter + Carlitos Nino (Latinos in London).

Upstairs we have a very special guest dj in that of Mr. Tom Skinner aka Hello Skinny alongside his dj partner and Kushai Gaya. Tom is a drummer with Mobo winning jazz band Sons of Kemet and part of Gilles Peterson signing Owiny Sigoma band.

Upbeat, danceable Afro-Venezuelan and Caribbean popular rhythms, led by master percussionist Wilmer Sifontes and his Afro-American project. The band explore and reveal Venezuela’s rich legacy of African and Afro-Caribbean roots music.

Repercussion
Led by top colombian gaita player and maraca wizard of Papayera alongside with Carlos Paul a funky rocker from Ecuador they create an exciting new band filled with rhythms from South America and the Caribbean. From Salsa to Cumbia, Bachata to Son, they have it all. You will not resist the temptation to dance to the fantastic and original music.

The Indios
Warming up are The Indios, a London based indie tropical band which was born after two friends from Colombia decided to find a way to make even the shyest person dance. All The Indios want to do is share Latin American music and start the party!

Russ Jones aka Hackney globe trotter has forged a new direction in mixing global beats and world/dance music with Future World Funk, embracing eclectic cultural styles from mashed-up Brazillian 2-Step, Arabic Hip Hop, Afro-house, vintage reggae, Latin,cumbia and nu-cumbia to ragga, Japanese funk and Ghanian Hip Life to Moroccan Gnawa Dub.
