For the first time in 2 years, the incredible Colombian band Sidestepper return to London to perform brand new material from their incredible acclaimed album “Supernatural Love“. See them perform the album live for the first time at East London’s Village Underground onSunday 17th July.

Sidestepper have continually stunned with their sunny take on afro-colombian drum & bass, melody and soul. Starting as a studio project from Richard Blair in the mid 90s, Sidestepper was quickly attributed to innovation, pioneering a distinctive latin sound with the heavy breaks of drum and bass. Blair immersed himself in the Columbian culture when he moved to the country in 1993 to work with legend Totó La Momposina. Through producing, Blair worked with an incredible roster of artists and these collaborations began to evolve into what Sidestepper is today.

Each album has been a completely new concept but undeniably consistent. With each release they have managed to pioneer a new sound and open doors for a lot of artists to follow. With their newest release, the insistent beats are now supplied by incredible live instruments ranging from hand drums, shakers and tambourines, matched by a largely acoustic lineup that includes kalimba and flutes. Expect a range of soulful and a multi cultural sound from Gospel to Electronica to Soca but the consistently powerful sound will always shine through!

Richard Blair will be returning to basics and providing a solo DJ set with a selection of the most eclectic beats that make you feel the Latin sun.

“A very cool, well-crafted album of celebration and cultural reclamation.” ***** Songlines (Top Of The World Album)

“By bringing melody and textural complexity to the fore they sound breezily cool and stand out from a zillion other dance acts … a refreshing break from the tyranny of bass drum and snare.” The Independent on Sunday
