Jards Macalé - Brazilian legend live in London : 30 July, 2017

Jards Macalé was a radical and key figure in Brazil's tropicalia scene of the 1970s working with Gilberto Gil & Caetano Veloso and many of the giants of Brazilian music.

This very rare UK performance will see him perform with a four piece band and will be an emotional return for him revisiting the city he once performed in way back in 1971

when guesting with Caetano - he was the musical director of Caetano's self titled 1971 album when in exile in UK.

Jards Macalé was also the first musical director of Maria Bethânia in a rich and diverse career spanning 50 years as a singer, composer, arranger and guitarist.

A carioca, Jards Macalé was brought up in a musical environment where his mother played foxtrots on the classical

piano and his father played accordion. He went on to study piano and orchestration and began his rock n roll career officially when he joined Grupo Opinião as a guitarist in 1965.

His songs have since been recorded by some of Brazil's true greats likeNara Leão, Paulinho da Viola and Gal Costa and in Brazil he still continues to sell out tours and concerts across the country.
