Bitch 'n' Monk : From Suburbia to Colombia

This daring new duo - Bitch 'n' Monk - has been hitting London with a new kind of sensuality and musicality, that has been missing from London's music scene since the 70s. Their sound is both raw and intensely modern, with an inspiring and courageous originality rarely seen these days. With the somewhat unusual combination of loop pedals, operatics, Andean flutes and a fender, they have been captivating audiences in ways that can only be described as orgasmic. Their charismatic on-stage personas combine with edgy performances, charged with high-energy and comedy.

Vocalist, guitarist and loop pedalist Heidi Heidelberg can miraculously move from opera to rock, jazz to beat-box, with a virtuosity that is spellbinding. Mauricio Velasierra electrifies his array of Andean flutes, managing to produce a sound at times soul-piercing, at others aggressive and omnipresent. Together they create a quasi-orchestral sound, many times larger than seems possible from just 2 people. They will be playing again in London from July onwards and if you haven't seen them yet, you can catch them at London's Southbank Centre on September 6th after their sojourn in Berlin.
