Buika captivate London audiences.

On tuesday 13th December we received in London one of the most expected artist closing her world tour in the UK.

The incomparable flamenco and jazz superstar, CONCHA BUIKA brought her fiery show to the Eventim Apollo in London. Presented by Piu Entertainment, the hugely popular Mallorcan-born singer/songwriter/poet performed an evening of flamenco, Spanish copla, jazz and soul and tracks from her current CD, 'Vivir Sin Miedo’ (‘To Live Without Fear’).

The fearless Buika follows in the tradition of performers such as Nina Simone who have defied categorisation to forge their own musical path to great critical and public acclaim. Born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the daughter of African parents, Buika is a one-woman force of artistic nature; ‘Vivir Sin Miedo’ features 10 tracks – nine of which were written by Buika herself – that reflect Buika’s worldwide travels of the last decade. Fusing elements of reggae, ragga, flamenco, R&B, Afrobeat and gospel, the CD features appearances by Meshell Ndegeocello, Jason Mraz, and Spanish underground flamenco legend, Potito. A Latin Grammy Award winner, Buika, who’s now based in Miami, Florida, has already built up a following in the UK via her performances at Womad and the Barbican. She has performed in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Argentina and Mexico.

We thanks Buika for choosing London to close her world tour and giving us the opportunity to see her again and sharing with us her wonderful new album "Vivir sin miedo", bringing her variety of rhythms from Africa to Spain with Jazzy vibes, R & B , Reggae spirit, rumba and flamenco roots and latin flavour. She wanted to give to her last show all the best as she did on the first one, this time apart of the lovely music she also share her experiences with the up and downs of touring and making us laugh and thinking than also in music business even if you are well known artists you are still common people to others and good and bad moments can also happen on different ways.

Her 5 piece band was amazing, skillful musicians, guitar, keyboards and trombone, Multipercussionist drummer and cajon player and the sound of the bass guitar is also something that you can enjoy listening the whole night.

Buika certainly is nowdays one of the most important singers of all times, her voice combine the flamenco and african roots bringing this sounds to a new level. An espectacular way to express herself on stage while she is singing makes you feel that connection with the artist even if you don't speak spanish you can feel the music and her lyrics from feeling sad to being happy and dance after all, that's a magic moment that we can get with an artist.

Certainly a memorable concert by Concha Buika that make us feel more as friends than fans in a very intimate show.

Band members: Concha Buika, Ahmed Barroso, Alexis Arce, Jose Rodriguez Santiago Canada Valverde and Ramon Suarez.
