Jose Barros : Tributo a la Cumbia Colombiana
With music, as it had to be, El Banco (Magdalena) yielded one of the most prolific composers in the country.
More than 700 songs from genres as diverse as Tango, cumbia, boleros and rancheras, and the author of La Piragua, El Pescador made tribute with a concert, a discussion group and a presentation of dances that showed how talented are the banquenos.
Singers such as Totó la momposina, María Mulata, Victor and Viviana Esparragoza, Jorge Enrique, Jorge Mario Castaño, Pisciotti Armando Quintero and Ana Cecilia Almanza, with the accompaniment of the Orchestra of Pacho Galan, musically through the work of Barros.
Toto, who closed the concert with an emotional “residing master Barros” sang La Piragua, El gallo Tuerto, Las Pilanderas and El Guere Guere.
The Mayor’s Office of the Bank also discovered a bust in homage to the maestro Barros that was located close to the Magdalena river and where residents flocked to take photos and selfies.
