Álvaro Uribe London Lecture 23/5/2011

On 23 May 2011 in the Sheikh Zayed Theatre of New Academic Building at LSE, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, former President of Colombia, holding the office from 2002 to 2010, delivered his public lecture: "The three pillars of Colombia's recent progress "

Mr Uribe began his political career in 1977 as Secretary General of the Ministry of Labour. From 1980 to 1982, he was head of the Civil Aviation Department. He was the mayor of his native city of Medellín in 1982 and later, from 1984 to 1986, he was elected city councillor. He was elected Senator for the periods 1986-1990 and 1990-1994. In 1995 he was elected governor of the department of Antioquia.
